Hi Gail, I’m very happy to see you are committed to the free motion projects! This size sandwich does start to create some challenges with maneuvering – the most drag is going to be created by the fabric sitting in between you and the machine. Try rolling up the sides and lifting the fabric up from your lap and rest on your chest -sometimes that helps. Another option is to rotate your sandwich and bunch it up so most of the weight rests on your table top.

Remember to focus on a small area at a time, stop and readjust the fabric so you always have a good grip and the fabric moves freely.

Thanks for sharing your progress!

I started by working on a small sandwich before I moved on to my larger piece.I have great admiration for your example, the quilting is so beautiful.I am having fun with mine but it is definitely more difficult to move this larger piece of fabric around.I just want to say thank you for teaching this technique , I am so excited about learning the free motion quilting.
