Those sound like great ideas for clamshells. A baby would probably love a little floor mat to play on with all the little floppies. Cute idea!

I got this idea from an antique quilt made by an African-American which was made with triangles done this way with just the pointy end being “floppy.” I’ve never tried applique and am a little afraid of it since I’ve had trouble with quilting the quilts and embroidering along the edges of pieces of blocks. Will have to just do it once and see how it goes. A test block, that’s what I need.

I thought about trying one with 2 layers of clamshell cutouts sewn together like a facing on each clamshell, turned right side out & attached to a foundation by the small end which are made to be a “floppy clamshell” for those who like texture, i.e., little ones and Alzheimer’s patients. This sounds fun, too.
