Our first day was a success! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello. It was nice to see some familiar faces from last year and make some new friends too.
I posted a video from the booth yesterday. If you get a chance, check it out.
Here’s some great pics from today…
Our favorite design, Cannon Beach, makes another debut this year but has a more modern tone. As we like to call it…Tradi-Mod (traditional/modern). A very traditional Dresden using the 9 degree ruler for a large eye-catching center paired with modern fabrics by Windham & Lotta Jansdotter called Glimma. We used an Art Gallery grey dot as the background.
Don’t let the Dresden fool you into thinking this is a difficult pattern. It’s my second go at this one and I’m always amazed at how easy it is to make and get such a striking finished quilt out of. I really love how this one turned out!
Sassy Strollers is always a hit at the shows. I wish I’d had more time to remake it and kit it up too. Maybe next time…
Lots of little items too that can be made up for Secret Santa or gifts for teachers and co-workers. Little Wallets and needlecases.
It’s not a fun trip without a little something special thrown in…
This was parked outside on our way out for the day..lol.
Now off to relax with a little Mexican food and a couple of margaritas!

We’re gearing up for the big show y’all. Madison Quilt Expo is only a few weeks away and were busier than heck getting things ready to make this years’ show a bigger success than last year. Many peeps have stepped up to help us make our goal. There is a mass frenzy of kitting and cutting. There’s so much fabric flying I thought we’d lose Daisy in the chaos..lol.
Our biggest seller is Art Gallery’s Oval Elements. The perfect filler & we have every color cut into fat quarters and bundled just waiting to find a new home. It’s a bundle of eye candy!….Take me please….
Adorable right? These owls whip up in no time and we have about 30 kits made. Halloween or for a child’s room. Contact me if you’d like first dibs on one. They come with a free pattern and are only $7.25!
And this baby bundle called Glimma will soon grow up to be a Cannon Beach quilt.
I have lots more to show you but if you know me by now, you realize I’m a little OCD when it comes to showing y’all the quilts unless they are completely finished. So I’m working on a few bindings over the next coupla days and hopefully be back soon to tease you with more quilty love!

The featured vendor at the Sew Many Stars Quilt Show last weekend was local quilter Lynn Schmitt Cibulka. Her company, A Different Box Of Crayons adds a unique and exciting twist on the world of quilting. Having interior design in her background, Lynn has found her niche. She uses mixed media to keep her projects interesting, including wool, ribbon, cotton, silks & home decor fabrics.
I snapped some shots of her booth including her latest Halloween design.
Is this quilt and runner beautiful, or what?! She was drawing names for the runner. I bet someone walked away last weekend a very happy lady. I was hoping it was going to be though! I did manage to buy a needle case kit. I’m excited to get started on that.
This pillow was gorgeous too!
Can you tell I loved her booth?! She’s been one busy bee.
We’d like to thank the Country Quilters of McHenry for having us this past weekend. We had a successful show and everyone from the guild was truly helpful in making that happen. The quilts were beautifully displayed in the church. There’s nothing quite like seeing all of them in such a peaceful setting.

It’s our last day here in Madison and I want to give you a tour through all of the beautiful quilts that are featured in the show. Impressive is the word that came to mind while I made way through the show!
This quilt show has really grown and brought in a variety of artists over the past couple of years. If you live in the area and missed your chance at attending this year, I really hope you can make it next year. You won’t be disappointed!
Starry, Starry Night by quilter Maureen Fawkes was truly a work of art!

Sorry for the lack of posting these days. We’ve been really busy trying to get ready for the Madison show coming up in just about 1 week! Yikes! It’s been a frenzy of assembling kits and cutting fabric. But I did want to sneak in a quick post for everyone…
I got a chance to relax and enjoy our monthly sew-in this last Sunday. We all went out to Pattie’s new home. It was fabulous! She has great taste in decor.
She had a chicken salad ready for us and Watermelon Mojitos…yummy.
Kelly worked on the binding for a Halloween quilt made from charm square scraps.
This is a quilt Pattie had over a sofa in her living room. Stunning comes to mind. I think the kitty liked it too!
Pattie has four kitties. But Pete was our favorite. He insisted on helping us out at every turn. He happened to love the Cosmo floss. I’m pretty sure he thought I had brought it just for him:)
We decided to start a group project next year with all the SewMod girls. Each of us will make a 15″ to 18″ “house” block, whether it be pieced or applique. Anything goes. In January we will pass our block to one of the girls and she will add her own creativity to it, such as beads, applique, embroidery, buttons, etc. In February, it will go the next girl to embellish. I’m really excited about this project and I can’t wait to see the finished blocks. We really have a very talented and diverse group so the end results should be interesting.
So that’s what I worked on during our sew-in. I chose to do an embroidered gingerbread house from a pattern I purchased from an Etsy shop called BigBgd. Very cute stuff! I enlarged one of the designs and embroidered the outer lines so the girls could have fun with the landscape and “candy decor”.
I still have the side candy canes left to embroider but I made some pretty good progress this Sunday. Now gotta get back to embroidering the Witches Boot before another month sneaks by and it’s October.
Thanks Pattie for being a great hostess. We all had a great time and look forward to coming back.
