We had such a great time getting together this past weekend to teach the Patchwork Glamper. Spending the day before Mother’s Day sewing, chatting and crafting. What more could a mom want to start the weekend off.

The Patchwork Glamper is a fun way to incorporate all those trims, buttons and embellishments you’ve been stashing and a great way to learn many skills like English Paper Piecing (EPP) hexagons and embroidery with low commitment.

It’s so fun to see how each persons creativity shines through when we hold workshops or customers send us pics of items they’ve made with our patterns.

This design is so flexible and forgiving. Each of the girls work was unique.  For example…A few of the girls decided to leave out their center hexie and let the flower be the focus and the background fabric shine through.

Or design your own camper to add to the work. Ann wanted her camper to be similar to the one she travels in so she designed her very own and added a little bling.

Or how about how Wendy decided she’d rather have a pillow and tweaked hers to be more square. Check out her cute puppy button in her center hexie!

Jalana had a great idea to repurpose the burlap from a bouquet she received. And check out all the details she added to glamp up her work…her wheel is a adorable!

Jen’s Glamper is so bright and cheery! Her first time at hand sewing hexies and embroidery work. Great job Jen!

Ann finished and framed her Glamper. I think I’m now partial to the tilted letter. It gives it a whimsy feel.

The workshop was so relaxed that us teachers even got in on the action. Paige used her time to refresh her hand sewing skills.

And I finished up my sample while I showed the girls the techniques.

Thanks everyone for participating. We had a great time!

We always have the Curby Shoe patterns in stock in the shop but I’ve never made them. The thought of quilting my own fabric for this project made me whine…a lot, but this summer I visited my favorite quilt store in OKC, Oklahoma QuiltWorks, and they had this cute board display made up on how easy it was to make Curby Baby Shoes. I got Paige to do my quilted fabric and Wendy and I decided to give it a go. Besides, it would make a cute display for Madison. And guess what OKC was right. So cute and so easy!
So I made our own little display board and a couple of sets of shoes as samples.

The cowboy boot turned out super cute.
Paige quilted several yards of fabric to make kits for only $8.75. Just in case we had customers who also cringe at the thought of that part of the process:)

We cut tons of eye candy..aka Oval Elements from Art Gallery Fabrics. Everybody’s favorite. Who doesn’t want a rainbow of dots?
We ran a special of Create Any Bundle Of 11 or more and the fat quarters are as low as $2.19 a piece. Can’t beat that!

And check out our show pet, Henrietta Turtle. A pattern from Heather Bailey. My mom made this little sweetheart sample and she’s even got a unique SewMod twist..a hand crocheted flower! We kitted her up for only $13.50.

Madeline is always a hit. So she joined us again this year. Perfect for your sewing room or in my case…something pretty to look at while I get ready in the morning. She adorns my bathroom wall. $16.00 for the scrappy kit and pattern.

Several of our customers today commented on how reasonable our kits and overall pricing was. It’s nice to be able to provide that and pass some savings on to them. I even stood outside yesterday and passed out our extra vendor passes to four lucky ladies. Good deeds to start your day off right. It felt good!

We’re looking forward to another great day today. We hope you’ll join us. If not, check back for more pics!

Our first day was a success! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello. It was nice to see some familiar faces from last year and make some new friends too.

I posted a video from the booth yesterday. If you get a chance, check it out.

Here’s some great pics from today…
Our favorite design, Cannon Beach, makes another debut this year but has a more modern tone. As we like to call it…Tradi-Mod (traditional/modern). A very traditional Dresden using the 9 degree ruler for a large eye-catching center paired with modern fabrics by Windham & Lotta Jansdotter called Glimma. We used an Art Gallery grey dot as the background.

Don’t let the Dresden fool you into thinking this is a difficult pattern. It’s my second go at this one and I’m always amazed at how easy it is to make and get such a striking finished quilt out of. I really love how this one turned out!

Sassy Strollers is always a hit at the shows. I wish I’d had more time to remake it and kit it up too. Maybe next time…

Lots of little items too that can be made up for Secret Santa or gifts for teachers and co-workers. Little Wallets and needlecases.

It’s not a fun trip without a little something special thrown in…
This was parked outside on our way out for the day..lol.

Now off to relax with a little Mexican food and a couple of margaritas!

More from the booth tomorrow!

I’m back from a super fun and very relaxing time in the sun! I spent a week in Cali with one of my bff’s, Susan! We went to Disneyland, saw the beach, and spent an afternoon on Rodeo Drive…oh my it’s tough to come back isn’t it?

New fabrics arrived in the shop while I was out! That always helps get me back in the groove of things..
Too Cute Too Spook by Riley Blake

And Bijoux.. Which is Bari J.’s new line from Art Gallery Fabrics.
