**Update: 2/23/15 If you’re looking for the Tuffet Demo & the foundation piecing tutorial, it can be found here
The tuffet party for the SewMod group was a success!
We met on Sunday and I couldn’t be happier with how everyone’s turned out. Let’s start form the beginning, shall we.
1st there are tuffet “cakes”, 6″ foam and heavy plywood, sprayed together with upholstery adhesive.
Jelly roll strips are foundation pieced onto muslin and sewn together.
Cover the cakes and staple underneath.
And if you work really, really hard….
your cakes grow up to be tuffets.
I used a Soul Blossom jelly roll on mine. I still need to paint my feet.
I had a great time and I hope the other girls did too. Vicki suggested trying the Amy Butler Gum Drop Pillows next.
Sign me up Vicki. I’m in!

Thanks Lorrie! They turned out so cute! Those gum drop pillows remind me of bean bag chairs. What the heck, I’ll give it a try :)

Great job! It would be hard for me to pick a favorite. Where did you get the pattern?

I feel like the biggest loser, and not in a good way, because I didn’t get mine done.

I made the smaller gum drop pillow for my 2 year old son for last Christmas and packed it with plastic grocery bags (because he LOVES the crinkle sound they make). It’s not stuffed as tight and he uses it like a bean-bag chair… I also put a zipper on one side seam so I can take the bags out and wash the cover as needed. I loved the pattern and how well written it was!!

How many jelly toll packets do you use

Hi Donna
One jelly roll should be sufficient. A jelly roll is typically 2-1/2″ x 42″. To do the foundation piecing, I generally work with a strip that is 2-1/2″ x 22″. So you could use one strip of a jelly roll twice(cut in half) if needed.
Thanks for your question!
Lorrie:)

How wide is the fabric between your stitching lines Lorrie? Love how small you made it. Thanks

Hi Yollande
I used 2-1/2” jelly roll strips and sewed with a 1/4” seam which makes the fabric measure 2” after it’s sewn.

Thank you for your reply. It really looked so much smaller than 2inch finished. I guess photos play tricks with the eye. I have all my fabrics cut to 2 1/2 and anxious to get started…….
