Yes. I’m a couple of months late on this beachy keen post. Even as I write this I’m thinking of fall, pumpkins, what to dress up for Halloween & wearing my Uggs, oh and apple cider doughnuts! Yumm..

So let’s take it back a bit. All the way to the middle of July. Schools out, the sun’s shining & the weathers warm. All we wanna do is hang out for lunch, have margaritas and enjoy the lazy afternoons….and it’s time to celebrate Paige and Wendy’s birthday!

I wanted to make their gifts this year…well, my mom did most of the making. I mostly did some attaching:)

Something fun & colorful was a must! I found these totes out shopping one day and scored big time with the robins egg blue handles. I bought them, a lot of them, and knew exactly what I wanted to do with them.

From that to this…nailed it, right?!

I embellished them with some bright and modern crochet doilies and flowers handmade for this project by my mom.

A bag to use as a purse for a day out shopping or to use as a tote for a fun take-along project! Wouldn’t these make great bridesmaids gifts too?

I didn’t stop with the totes. I took dollar store flip flops, crocheted flowers, and a bit of blue yarn..

and turned that into a sweet pair to be worn with white capris or a sundress.
All I did was wrap the flip flops with the blue yarn and hand sew the flowers on…easy peasy!

Toes to match;)..blue of course!

I took so many feet pics I’m convinced my neighbors thought I’d lost my mind for sure this time.

A huge thank you to my mom for doing the crochet. She’s always eager to help with all my ideas! Even as I write this blog, she’s working on another project for me. I get so excited when we can collaborate. We need-2-create!

Keep checking in to see what we come up with next…

Have you been busy as elves getting ready for Christmas? I have my tree up and and my house decorated, a bit of shopping accomplished but I’m still working on those handmade items. There’s still time though, don’t panic! This is what I tell myself daily:(

We did manage to make this super cute Christmas Elves table runner.

The runner is made from the pattern Which Witch by Crazy Old Ladies.

Both are available in the Etsy shop and at SewModDesigns.com. We’re having a Christmas Sale this week on all handmade items at SewModDesigns.com and the Etsy shop, 20% off. Don’t miss it!

Another great gift idea for those co-workers, teens, or your BFF is the Little Wallet. We recently finished these up for a friend who plans to share the handmade love with her co-workers.

We have kits available with the crochet flower or buy the pattern and make them from your scraps. They whip up easily and fast!

As promised, this week I am going to show you some of the projects that we had on display in our booth at the quilt show. Better late than never, right? These are things that friends helped me get together while my arm was broken and I didn’t get a chance to blog about. Well, my arm is feeling much better and I can type with both hands now. Physical Therapy made it feel so much better. So, back to blogging. I have no excuses anymore!

My mom made up sets of handmade crochet flowers for us to sell. A set of 3 in approximate sizes 2.5″, 2″ & 1″. She made 8 different sets. The variegated purple is my fave!

She also made individual ones for us to use in kits. This is the sweetest Little Wallet kit. It only requires 2 fat quarters. And who wouldn’t want to be original and have a cute crochet flower instead of a button! These wallets whipped up really fast. I didn’t want to stop making them. Great stocking stuffer, don’t ya think?

And then we kitted the slippers with flowers also.

Lots of ideas for these cute flowers…hair clips and headbands for girls, scrapbooking, quilts. We even attached a tiny one to the cute appliqued owl for the Hootie & Friends quilt kit.

Each kit comes tied with a crochet flower…so cute!

Thanks Mom!

Taza, by Dena Designs, arrived a couple of days ago. It has a shabby chic, fresh feeling to it. I also can see a really pretty, modern baby room designed around this.

And I just couldn’t resist adding the Kaffe Polka dot to the collection. It’s perfect! This yellow Ribbon Damask is one of my fave’s from the line.

And this one catches my eye too.

My mom loved the stripe. I’m tellin’ ya, I totally see a baby girl here!

And speaking of my mom, look at the adorable crocheted flowers she made for an owl kit we’re working on. Won’t these be cute as little owl hair accessories! Thanks mom:)

And another thing, if I had to rely on my gardening skills to survive, I’m afraid I would starve to death! I planted tomatoes at the beginning of summer and I swear the plant only grew to about 18″ tall and produced the saddest little tomato I’ve seen.

My neighbor said it looked like a giant strawberry…ouch. Thank goodness there is always a back-up plan…the local farmer’s market:)
