My last birdie block is complete and on its way to a good home! I had a lot of fun stitching these and adding my own twist to some of the blocks. Thanks again Little Miss Shabby!
I can’t wait to see how Vicki puts all the blocks together!
I wonder what new and fun blocks await us for 2012?!
November Birdie block is finished. Only a few minor additions to the block this month. Birdie has a new pilgrim hat and a fat turkey for his feast, although Mr. Turkey is too pretty to eat! I stitched him in my Cosmo Seasons variegated floss. And birdie eating Mr. Turkey might be considered cannibalism…hmmm.
A big Thank you to Andrea’s husband Tom for helping us out with our extra Birdie drawings this month. And as always a big thanks to Little Miss Shabby for such a fun BOM. Only one more to go…Christmas Birdie!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
October Birdie is finished and I’m back on schedule. I do have to admit that my stitching was a little shaky trying to do both of these so blocks so close together. But I think it turned out cute.
I switched the moon to the other side and added a witch’s hat to Birdie. She had to have a costume for all that trick or treating she plans on doing!
What kind of candy is she hoping to get the most of this year? Reese’s cups seem to be my, um, her addiction right now!
I finally finished the September block from Little Miss Shabby’s BOM. September to me is apple picking time and back to school. And what kind of school does a Birdie attend? Well, Flight School, of course!
We have an elementary school in the neighborhood that rings the “bell” at the beginning of the school day. I enjoy hearing that while taking Daisy for her morning walk, so I had to incorporate the bell also.
Thanks again for another cute block! Can’t wait to get started on the October one now.
The buzz is summer’s almost over…bummer:(
Russell’s already registered for school and then before you know it, I’ll be getting up at the crack of dawn. No more sleeping in. I LOVE to sleep in!
I’m actually ready for fall, like I’m sure most of the country is, since we’ve had extreme temperatures this year.
Birdie’s still hanging in there though. I love the sunflower idea and my mom suggested a bumble bee. That was a great addition to an already cute block. Thanks again Little Miss Shabby!
Can you believe…100 posts already! We’ve come a long way and we’d like to thank everyone for their support by having a giveaway.
We’re giving away the Bliss Table Runner. Paige did a great job machine quilting it.
And how about the spring/summer issue of Quilt Samplers Top 10 Shop Hop to go with it. My favorite magazine, which I wait ever so patiently for twice a year. You’ll love it too!
Just leave us a comment to enter. The giveaway ends Saturday, May 7th. I’ll post the winner on Monday, May 9th.
Good luck everyone!
The Sweet Pickins’ club at Quilt In Joy is a year long club that features the This And That Pattern Company. They meet every month for a demo on a pattern taught by Laura, one of Quilt In Joy’s talented employees.
Meet Laura….and the pickins’ club
The projects they work on in this club are so darn cute. If I wasn’t already committed to a million things, I think this would be on my to-do’s.
They’re also working on a mystery quilt along with their monthly pattern pick. Kathy’s off to a great start with her 1st block.
Here’s a few of the projects. A cute wallet clutch, a basket for your desk, and aren’t those notebook covers adorable!
This month’s project is the Lazy Daisy bag. Laura made it out of the Bliss charm pack with some Michael Miller handles.
And Kathy is using Max and Whiskers from Basic Grey.
Paige made a pattern of the cute kitty in the fabric line for Kathy to applique on the front of the bag instead of the daisies.
Kathy, you’ve got to bring your bag into the shop when your done so I can get get pics. It’s gonna be seriously cute!
Have a great weekend y’all!
I was definitely in the Easter mood while stitching Birdie & I wanted her to have a “Pastel Paas” thing going on. So I stitched her in pastel variegated floss & I found these cute little Easter egg buttons at my local cross stitch store to decorate the tree with.
Thanks for another cute block Little Miss Shabby. I’m having lots of fun stitching these!
Andrea and Vicki came over on Monday to do some sewing, eat, gossip, lust over some new lines of fabric. You know, all those things girls do when we get together:) We can always count on Vicki to have the latest and greatest and if you haven’t seen Fig Tree’s new line, Strawberry Fields, then you must run to the quilt store. Sooo pretty and we’ve determined that it matches my kitchen perfectly…hmmm another project? Yikes!
So, back to my title. I was so easily distracted by the sweetness of those fabrics. Now onto the sweetness of gumdrops.
Can’t stop making gumdrops. So easy, so fun. So cool looking!
Andrea made the 24″ one out of Amy Butler fabric and polka dots and mine of course is the OU one:)
Holy tower of gumdrops!
The cubs one is my fave! It’s going on the Esty site along with the kiddie one.
At least these don’t make you fat.
Enjoy the weekend everyone. I’m going to be busy, busy. I’m rearranging and changing so check back next week to see what I’ve been up to!
Cleaning..no, but I seriously need to. Spring is much harder on my house than winter especially with a dog in the family.
Remember this vision of Christmas goodness?
Just got it back from the quilter and she used a blue marking pen on it. Need I say more? I really hate those things. They are very unpredictable! For starters, I’m not the girl who washes a quilt when I get it done. I like crisp and fresh. So that’s a little disappointing, but what’s a bigger disappointment is that I’m going to end up trashing something I worked hard on, cost a lot of money, cause let’s face it people fabric is not cheap, and it’s from my favorite lines of all time…ugh. I’m sooo frustrated. These are the pics of the quilt after it’s been washed a zillion times using a zillion methods. You may need to enlarge them for the blue to show up.
The blue is all over the borders also. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!…help:(
On a more positive note, I have been working on some bindings and a cute little baby quilt from the Just Dreamy line from Riley Blake.
Adorable! Can’t wait to finish this one! I see giant rick rack in this quilts future.
