Need a smile today?
So, if you will, picture this. A project that needs a touch of Fray Check. A Fray Check bottle that has a small clog. One girl on a mission to unclog the bottle, because frankly I’m too tight to purchase a new bottle. The pin in tube trick fails to work. So my next trick will be to push the clog out by squeezing the Fray Check bottle….oooops:(
I obviously didn’t know my own strength. That top shot off like a rocket and and that gluey, sticky stuff in the Fray Check bottle shot all over my ceiling.
There was no swearing or fit throwing. I actually thought it was kinda funny. I tend to have these little mishaps. Can’t think of them right now…probably too many to remember. It’s just who I know I am and try to laugh it off. I was really thanking God that it shot on the ceiling instead of all over my projects on my design wall or the new pincushion sewing drawers I worked on this weekend. There probably would have been some swearing at that point…or crying!
I’ll promise to share my many mishaps with y’all as they happen:)
I’m working a quilt show on Friday in Morris, Illinois called Pieces From the Heart. We kitted up some cute stuff, including this little Bliss wallet I worked on yesterday as a store sample. It’s a Lazy Girl pattern called Wonder Wallet. Super easy. The folded down pocket is for your change.
I love the flower button on the front.
Come visit the Quilt In Joy Booth if you happen to be in town. We’d love to see you!
Paige has been working hard on these awesome bags that we’ve listed on Etsy. They are huge and can hold all your supplies for a sew-in or your pj’s and favorite blankie for a sleepover.
Susan was kind enough to be my supermodel for the day:)
Love, Love, Love this surfer one! I think if we weren’t selling it, she’d have to arm wrestle me for it!
I want one made out of this Michael Miller fabric we posted on Fabric Friday…Knitty Gritty. Wouldn’t that be super cute!
We also listed several Moda Jelly Rolls at great prices. So head on over and take a look.
Happy sewing everyone!
I modified the Birdie Stitches block 3 just a bit. I couldn’t help but add some shamrocks and a leprechaun hat to the bird.
The cloud looks like I colored white around the edges but it’s just the grunge fabric. I think it turned out cute! Thanks for another fun month Little Miss Shabby!
Tuffet…eating her curds and whey…
The SewMod girls have decided to do a group project in a couple of weeks and since Paige & I proposed it, we thought we’d try it out before we get together to help things move along smoothly.
We’re making this cute little tuffet.
I used a Blessings jelly roll for this practice one but I really wanna make one using the Amy Butler Soul Blossoms jelly roll.
It took us quite a while to get this done, mostly because I’m the absolute worst paper/foundation piecer ever. I had to keep asking…now where do I start? I’m surprised she just didn’t take it away from me and do it herself. She’s very patient!
I think I’ll use my tuffet as a little bedside table in the guest room. Anyone up for a sleepover?
It will be so exciting to see everyone’s choices and finished tuffet.
I don’t think we’ll be eating any curd though. What is that anyway?…doesn’t even sound good…unless it’s Wisconsin cheese curds…yum, yum!
Honestly, my days have been screwed up because of the snow days. I didn’t realize it was almost Fabric Friday till about 10 o’clock last night. I’m seriouly unprepared!
Instead of leaving you hanging, I thought I would just show you some of the fabrics I can’t seem to stop thinking about.
Up 1st is Knitty Gritty from Michael Miller. I love this with the scissors under the skulls. The other piece to this line has knitting needles crossed behind the skulls.
It comes in lavender too. I can see a cute wallet or a coffee cup cozy out of this.
A novelty print from Michael Miller that I saw recently made into a bag.
I don’t know how old this Halloween fabric is. I think it’s Maywood Studios. I know Paige will like this one.
You didn’t think I’d leave out Christmas did you?
Here’s a peek at the new Kate Spain’s line Flurry.
And the Basic Grey line Jovial, which I’m just counting the days for. Although I kinda wished they had named it a Christmas treat like the last two, Fruitcake & Figgy Pudding. Those names were so much fun.
Have a great SuperBowl weekend everyone!
And Happy Birthday Mom!!
Maybe the more appropriate title should be snowed in.
After that super scary blizzard Tuesday night, I had 3 feet drifts preventing me from leaving or opening any doors. It made for a claustrophobic me and a confused puppy, who didn’t understand why we couldn’t take a potty walk…ugh We weren’t dug out till 3:00 p.m….poor thing!
This is the path to my front door! If I was a kid this would be awesome!
So, what do you do on a snow day besides listen to your teenager whine about having nothing to do because he can’t leave the house?
Work on Birdie Stitches block 2.
It’s our 1st giveaway! This is so exciting!
I decided to turn the turquoise Birdie Stitches Block 1 that I’m not using into a giveaway for the blog.
The giveaway runs from Thursday, January 20th through Thursday, January 27th. I’ll announce the winner on Friday the 28th. All you need to do is leave a comment on this post and please make sure your email address is also attached to the comment so we can notify you.
I also decided to include a skein of embroidery thread that I purchased from the crochet4u2dye4 Etsy shop. I used these threads to make his earmuffs and scarf. I hope you love them as much as I do!
Be sure and tell all your friends and check back next Friday for the winner!
I finished block 1 of the Birdie Stitches BOM. These fabrics are sooo cute!
Originally, I had done this in the turquoise background, but the longer I looked at it, I knew it was too overpowering.
This time I used Moda’s Grunge in white. I like this version much better. I do wish I’d done the snowman in a darker pink and when all is said and done, I’m sure this block will be on its 3rd version. I’m just that way. I want it perfect!
I did a cluster of french knots in his earmuff and a fringed scarf. I used a hand dyed variegated floss for the scarf and earmuff. I found an awesome store on Etsy that dyes all their threads and flosses. Its crochet4u2dye4. They sell embroidery and crochet threads. Check it out! You won’t be disappointed in the variety they have.
A couple of the girls in our SewMod group are doing a free embroidered BOM from Little Miss Shabby called Birdie Stitches.
I’m going to be using Moda’s new line from Lauren and Jessie Jung called Hideaway.
The background fabric is an really pretty turquoise, and we’re using a very cute yellow and white polka dot for borders. I say we because this is not my fabric even though I really, really want it. I’m on a fabric diet…ugh.
Vicki has a fat quarter stack and layer cake of this line and I told her I would stitch it up for her cause I really wanted to make it and I can do this stitching pretty fast….plus all the scraps will be mine:)
I should have my first block done soon and I can’t wait to show y’all. But until then here’s a the Flickr group page if you wanna see everyone’s progress.
Happy sewing this weekend!
