Catch-up part 4…
I knew when I saw this Riley Blake line by Emily Taylor that I had to have it and make something beautiful for us grown-ups! It reminds me of a ‘pretty cowgirl’ with all its florals and weathered pieces.
I especially love the blues. It reminds me of a repurposed piece of furniture that you’d find in a farmhouse.
And with any pretty cowgirl theme, there needs to be a star design. I chose to make this kit from Lella Boutiques StarStruck pattern. The large and small florals are featured in a star and snowball quilt combination. The kit assembles easily because the focus fabrics are precut 10″ squares.
Kit comes with fabrics for the top, binding and pattern. Quilt measures 62-1/2″ x 72″.
As of now, I have this quilt sample on display, draped over the couch. It makes my heart smile every time I see it!
I’m pretty sure this sample is one that will have a permanent home in my house!
As of this post, most of the Chatsworth fabrics have been sold. I have kits left and a couple of layer cakes and a FQ bundle along with one bolt of the dainty blue floral backing. If you’d like to check these out you can find them in the SewMod Etsy shop.

I did get some work done this week. I managed to do some finishes and start a new Christmas quilt. Christmas.Shocking. I know:) Love me some Christmas and what better time than July with this scorching heat wave than to sit in an air conditioned studio and wish for cooler temperatures. So that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. I’m going to make you wait for the newest one I just finished. I’m waiting for Paige to work her quilty magic on it before I reveal. But here’s what I’ve done so far this week….
I added this cute Alpine Wonderland Christmas Quilt kit to Etsy yesterday. We used the Summer Tweets quilt pattern that Paige and I designed because it showcases large scale prints and the main fabrics in Alpine Wonderland are so darn cute I couldn’t bear to cut it up. Kit comes with the free pattern.
Paige quilted it in an all over stipple.
Chain Reaction is finally ready and added to Etsy as well. This is one of my faves! Very modern looking. We used all of the Art Gallery prints we had in stock to create a scrappy modern quilt. Paige picked an excellent all over quilt design to enhance the look. Kona white and Kona Ash Grey are the coordinating solids.
And last, I hung the finished Sassafras quilt in my living room. Paige also did an all over design on this since it was so busy but added some special touches to the cone flowers.
Today I’m off with Shelley over at Elsie’s Girl for the downtown Crystal Lake Sidewalk Sale. I hope I come home with lots of good finds and bargains to share with you! Talk soon!

This quilt!
We used the Riley Blake, Hoo’s In The Forest, fabric to make this super easy baby quilt. A charm pack, a few yards of fabric, throw in some appliqued cuteness, & a couple hours of sewing and you’ve got an adorable keepsake!
I appliqued strawberries in one corner and a sweet little owl in the other.
Paige designed SewMod labels for all our handmade items. The are just printed on this fabric paper we found at the craft store.
I used pinking shears to trim the edges and sewed it right into the binding.
This is a really inexpensive and easy quilt. The kit is available for $29 and that includes the backing and binding. It’s available in 3 colorways, yellow, blue, and pink. This quilt is going to be part of our booth at the show but also will be available in our new store coming soon on Etsy …
This shop will be dedicated to handmade baby items, fabric and patterns. We’re pretty excited about launching this as part of SewMod! We have sooo many things going on, my head is spinning!!
