You didn’t think I went there just to sell my fabric goodies did you? Of course I had to make my way through all of the great booths this year. There were several modern ones this time to keep me occupied! I blew my budget!

Check out this adorable pattern from Atkinson Designs. Make your own fabric glitter houses for Christmas! I also picked up my favorite presser foot, a clear open-toed foot. Mine is missing and I’m pretty sure that my son has sucked it up in the vacuum. I guess if you ask a teen to clean, you’d better have the floor picked up first! I also got these Swatch Buddies. A reusable fabric swatch fan kit for when you’re out looking for fabrics for that special quilt and you don’t want to carry around all those fat quarters!

I don’t want to forget to show this adorable new line that just arrived from Blend fabrics called Animal Parade! Sooo freakin’ adorable! It’s available in the Etsy shop along with coordinating prints.

The tree is down, decorations put away and the house is spotless. Time to focus and reorganize. I’m telling myself…stay on track.
Do you know how hard that is when the weather for Chicago this January has been amazing! Walks without snow boots and sitting outside on the patio. I actually saw my neighbors sitting around a fire pit a couple of evenings ago!
So please forgive me for my lack of postings. I’ve been preoccupied with chirping birds and long walks:)
I have been working on this years list of projects. Although, I have to admit that I didn’t finish one thing on 2011’s list, so I’m going to keep it simple this year.
One of last years projects has been moved to 2012. CrabApple Hill’s pattern, Nesting Time. I’m determined on this one!
I want to make a Kaffe quilt. I’m thinking a scrappy Carpenters Star would be fun.
And last, get a jump start on all those handmade Christmas gifts this year. I’ve already got some ideas!

Our first official order..from a human, not a computer! It was exhilarating, exciting, scary and hopefully one day will be just another day at the office.
The Rep from Westminster/Free Spirit was at the house yesterday. With the rep, you get to touch the fabric, see the samples. The computer just doesn’t do the actual colors justice.We did have to pick some of the newer releases from the printed swatches because they hadn’t made it to the states yet. Which is why it’s so important to be at market.They have all the fabric samples there.
Now, I’m a planner. I was prepared for this meeting.
Printout out the products we were interested in..check. Ballpark range of the money we were going to spend…check. Ok, I can hear you snickering now.

We also ordered Kaffe fat quarter sets. And I promise not to bore you with every meeting we have with the Reps:) But I just couldn’t help myself. I had to share our newest fabric adventure. We should also promise our Rep. that we’ll be more decisive next time. There might have been a little too much…”I don’t know, do you like that, do we need that, should we?”

Paige and I headed out again this weekend for another quilting journey. There was a quilt show near Rockford, IL. We saw some interesting quilts and did some shopping.

This was a special exhibit. The theme was what you might see out your window on a plane trip. There were probably 40-50 mini quilts in this exhibit.

I think the highlight of our trip was going just a bit further up the road to Acorn Quilts. This store takes the traditional and spices it up with a modern flair. A great selection of bright batiks and modern fabrics.

With a good selection of wools, they were able to take a primitive pattern, traditionally done in browns and earth tones, into a bright and modern quilt.
The Wool Club was in progress and was kind enough to strike a pose for the blog.
And me oh my, I watched my money say goodbye when I found all of this eye candy. Cosmo floss!! I couldn’t believe my eyes! I had to have one of each. They even had the variegated ones.
Thirty more minutes up the road and we were in Wisconsin for another quilt show.
An applique pattern by Blackbird Designs. This one was my favorite at this show. I was imagining it done in some more modern fabrics, which would totally change the look of it.
And of course, more shopping. This was bordering on dangerous when we found a booth with an collection of Kaffe fabrics, old and new! When we were done with our Kaffe frenzy, we noticed I had picked mostly pastels and Paige had picked brights. I have a feeling there will be a collaborative quilt soon!
I’ve been busy making a couple more of the sewing boxes. I wanted to modern these two up, so I recreated the dresdens that I originally did for Shelley’s row quilt.
I’m totally in love with these. I’m positive that this would make a spectacular dresden quilt. If only I had more time. I’ve been saying that a lot lately!
I did a purple dresden…my fave. I really like the flower background fabric on this one.
Sorry y’all, this one’s already spoken for. The only one hitting Etsy is this super cute hot pink one.
I’ve got a couple more boxes. I’m working on another one with the hand quilted Grandmother’s Flower Garden & a GFG block that’s appliqued on yellow plaid. That one is turning out cute, cute!
