We’ve begun cutting and preparing kits. And we have some new and exciting things to share!

This is a small but wonderful quilt show that we really enjoyed vending at last time. Friendly people and beautiful quilts! We’d love to see you there!

Sale, Sale, it’s our Holiday Sale!! At least 20% off everything in the shop. Even sale prices!

We are cleaning house, literally. Making room for new merchandise and freeing up some space for creativity. I’ve set several fun fabrics aside just for me. I’m hoping to do some creating of my own with some of this cuteness!  This is Folk Tale  mixed with some Oval Elements.

We have kits, half yards & fabric bundles, books & patterns.

This bundle Paige put together would make a fabulous boy quilt! There’s some Art Gallery Fabrics mixed in with more Folk Tale.

Hurry for the remaining christmas fabrics. Those are nearly sold out! If you don’t see something that you think we have, just send me a convo. New items are updated weekly. Sale is good thru the end of the year, December 31, 2013.

Have a great weekend & happy shopping!

It’s the season girls…Pj ‘s, hot chocolate, lots of TV and hand work. Yes, it’s almost winter and all I wanna do is bunker down, finish projects, and start new ones that I can finally finish this time next year.
Speaking of that…our annual downtime project last year is finally finished! It only took me a year to find the time..just in time to start a new one that is.

Let’s recap how these projects go…
*November/December is our slow time of year which allows us to work on projects for fun.
*We usually take a pattern or idea and put our own spin on it to make it fun & spark our creativity.
*2011’s project was the trees from material obsession.
*2012’s project was Tree House Hideaway from the book Hexa Go-Go. A must have for the hexie lover by the way!

The original tree house is rated ‘G’.

But my story is definitely for the more mature. My tree house is for adults only y’all.

Meet Samantha.

Her favorite mode of transportation is a bicycle and her basket is always full of pretty flowers.

She’s just up in the tree house ensuring a great time with her babe by adding a little something special to the punch…vodka:)..martinis are on the menu up in here.

Her Babe has arrived early for their rendezvous. She better hurry…

So sweet..he’s brought her flowers! Uh..he better have not picked those from her basket…hmmm.
Come on up Babe! Let me fix you a drink…It’s time for our Tree House Rendezvous!

So you see, just by taking an existing pattern, thinking out of the box, you can create your own story. Have fun with your projects. Mix it up! Not with vodka, but with different medias. Add embroidery, crochet, or buttons.

For example,..I added embroidered lazy daisies & french knots on the basket and his bouquet for more dimension. There are no rules when you allow yourself to make it your own.

Now I need a new story and I promise NOT to take an entire to finish this one…It’s time to create!

Have you carved your pumpkins, dressed in your costume and ate too much candy already? Ya, me too! Last weekend we had a small get together, ate, drank, and watched scary movies.
I was a nerd, which really didn’t require too much of a wardrobe change. Although I hope you guys don’t think I run around with my finger up my nose all the time.

Paige was Wonder Woman and she came in her invisible jet! What,…I’m serious;)

And Daisy was a princess in a tutu!

I finally finished that Which Witch’s Boot embroidery that I started quite some time ago for Paige. I think it turned out really well.

I do wish I’d been more heavy handed on the crayon technique. Live and learn. Next time I’ll try not to be so careful on the coloring. I found this image on Pinterest and I like how dark the boot turned out. It looks so real!

It’s in Paige’s hands now and she gets to choose the colors and quilting. I pulled a couple pics from the Internet for ideas to help with her decision. This is from the original pattern by Crabapple Hill.

And here’s some pretty cool quilting done on this one..

But this color combo is my fave! I love the green!

Have a safe & Happy Halloween everyone! No tricks…just treats!

We are vending and doing a Hexie demo for the Northern Lake County Quilters Guild (NLCQG). Stop by! We have lots of holiday fabrics in stock and kits to match. If you’re in the Lake Villa area we’d love to see you!

The meeting takes place at the Antioch Township Center at 1625 Deep Lake Rd Lake Villa, IL 60046. It is directly behind the Lakes Area High School. 6:30-9:00

There’s a new chill in the air and as I was walking daisy this morning, I realized how much I love fall in Chicago. The leaves change beautiful colors, the air is crisp, its apple pickin’ time and lets not forget my favorite drink at Starbucks is out..Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

And you know another great thing about fall? It’s time to start decorating for the holidays! We had two big hits in Madison this year that will surely inspire you & light a fire under your britches to start working on those holiday projects.

Blend fabrics has a new line out called Spooktacular. It was so popular that we’ve ordered a second round of bolts. We made this quilt with our Summer Tweets pattern. So simple that the top can be assembled from start to finish in a day! Summer Tweets was perfect for showing off the large scale prints. I just love that apothecary jar fabric.

This kit can be found in the Etsy shop for $45.00 including the pattern for free! No time left this year for Halloween, but we all know you can get it finished by next fall!..maybe;)

We can’t forget Christmas! We have another fun line from Blend fabrics called Hip Holiday.

It reminds me of Christmas Vacation when Clark puts that big tree on top of car! I couldn’t resist making this from our pattern called Fruitcakes. I spiced it up a bit though by adding a car & tree appliqué template.

Stop by the shop or give me a shout out for more info. We have some kits left and a few more half yards and yardages.

We always have the Curby Shoe patterns in stock in the shop but I’ve never made them. The thought of quilting my own fabric for this project made me whine…a lot, but this summer I visited my favorite quilt store in OKC, Oklahoma QuiltWorks, and they had this cute board display made up on how easy it was to make Curby Baby Shoes. I got Paige to do my quilted fabric and Wendy and I decided to give it a go. Besides, it would make a cute display for Madison. And guess what OKC was right. So cute and so easy!
So I made our own little display board and a couple of sets of shoes as samples.

The cowboy boot turned out super cute.
Paige quilted several yards of fabric to make kits for only $8.75. Just in case we had customers who also cringe at the thought of that part of the process:)

We cut tons of eye candy..aka Oval Elements from Art Gallery Fabrics. Everybody’s favorite. Who doesn’t want a rainbow of dots?
We ran a special of Create Any Bundle Of 11 or more and the fat quarters are as low as $2.19 a piece. Can’t beat that!

And check out our show pet, Henrietta Turtle. A pattern from Heather Bailey. My mom made this little sweetheart sample and she’s even got a unique SewMod twist..a hand crocheted flower! We kitted her up for only $13.50.

Madeline is always a hit. So she joined us again this year. Perfect for your sewing room or in my case…something pretty to look at while I get ready in the morning. She adorns my bathroom wall. $16.00 for the scrappy kit and pattern.

Several of our customers today commented on how reasonable our kits and overall pricing was. It’s nice to be able to provide that and pass some savings on to them. I even stood outside yesterday and passed out our extra vendor passes to four lucky ladies. Good deeds to start your day off right. It felt good!

We’re looking forward to another great day today. We hope you’ll join us. If not, check back for more pics!

Our first day was a success! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello. It was nice to see some familiar faces from last year and make some new friends too.

I posted a video from the booth yesterday. If you get a chance, check it out.

Here’s some great pics from today…
Our favorite design, Cannon Beach, makes another debut this year but has a more modern tone. As we like to call it…Tradi-Mod (traditional/modern). A very traditional Dresden using the 9 degree ruler for a large eye-catching center paired with modern fabrics by Windham & Lotta Jansdotter called Glimma. We used an Art Gallery grey dot as the background.

Don’t let the Dresden fool you into thinking this is a difficult pattern. It’s my second go at this one and I’m always amazed at how easy it is to make and get such a striking finished quilt out of. I really love how this one turned out!

Sassy Strollers is always a hit at the shows. I wish I’d had more time to remake it and kit it up too. Maybe next time…

Lots of little items too that can be made up for Secret Santa or gifts for teachers and co-workers. Little Wallets and needlecases.

It’s not a fun trip without a little something special thrown in…
This was parked outside on our way out for the day..lol.

Now off to relax with a little Mexican food and a couple of margaritas!

More from the booth tomorrow!

Here’s a little video we put together of our booth at the Madison Quilt Expo! Make sure to come by and say hello while at the Expo.

We went from this…

To this is in 5 hours…

Come see us at the Madison Wisconsin Quilt Expo September 5-7th. We’re so excited about all our new quilts and quilty things. We can’t wait to see you!
