Grab a spoon & let’s have some sherbert. Some Lemon, lime & orange sherbert. Ok, it’s really melon, but that’s what I think of when I look at these fabrics so I’m going with it:)
This stack was $33.01, now $28.06 at Etsy & SewModDesigns.
Want a second helping? I went through my fave’s on Etsy and scooped these out. Lemon, Lime and Orange sweetness.

Have a great & warm weekend everyone!
While I was making this Hootie & Friends Quilt I came across an error I previously missed during my pattern testing. Exactly why I should have someone else test my patterns. Sometimes you’ve made something so many times, it becomes easy to overlook the obvious.
The pattern reads to use 16-1/2″ square for the center and to cut (2) 16″ & (2) 16-1/2″ strips. It should read to cut (2) 16-1/2″ strips & (2) 18-1/2″ strips. Take the 16-1/2 strips and add to the sides of the center. Last, adding your 18-1/2″ strips to the top and bottom.
I’m sorry & I hope I haven’t caused any inconveniences for everyone that bought the pattern and kit. Feel free to contact us if you have any more questions regarding our patterns.
Here’s Hootie in Pink. I made this for Susan, who is expecting her first niece in the family! Yay, finally a girl to make things for!
Isn’t she a cutie?
I came across a free block of the month over at Shabby Fabrics called Country Cottages. Just what I love, a block that has embroidery & applique. If you’re new to applique she even has a tutorial available. Here’s my version..
The only thing I changed was leaving off the snowflakes because it competed with my background. I think it turned out a bit more swiss cottage than country, but that’s ok. That’s what’s so great about these free BOM’s with their Flickr groups. Everyone gets to post their own interpretation and we can all be inspired by each others work.
I really like her work and patterns so I’m sure this is going to be fun project for the year. Head on over and check it out. Be sure to let me know if you’re going to participate so I can look for your pic on Flickr:)
New SewMod Stacks! Everyone really seems to like the stacks, so I got busy yesterday building this one. Besides, what else was I going to do now that our weather went from nice to naughty, 55 degrees one minute and snowing all day the next…bummer. I really didn’t think we’d make it through a January without snow did I?
I was in a blue and plum mood yesterday:) A little mix of Secret Garden, Artful Home and Joel Dewberry.
This 1/2 yard bundle of 7 is available in the Etsy shop & SewModDesigns.com. 15% off regular prices, $31.26, $26.57.
New patterns arrived in the shop too! A super cute Wonky series from Pine Mountain Quilts. Boy, do I have plans for these.
Wonky Love. Isn’t that cute! Perfect for the upcoming holiday…Valentine’s Day.
Wonky Fall
Wonky Winter.
Each $9.00 and they are small enough to finish up in no time, 23″x32″.
A new featured product this week is L’Amour De La Vie White Bicycles by Timeless Treasures.
Bicycle Love.
On sale 1/13/12-1/19/12 for $7.25. Patterns and fabric available at Etsy & SewModDesigns.
Have a great weekend everyone:)
The tree is down, decorations put away and the house is spotless. Time to focus and reorganize. I’m telling myself…stay on track.
Do you know how hard that is when the weather for Chicago this January has been amazing! Walks without snow boots and sitting outside on the patio. I actually saw my neighbors sitting around a fire pit a couple of evenings ago!
So please forgive me for my lack of postings. I’ve been preoccupied with chirping birds and long walks:)
I have been working on this years list of projects. Although, I have to admit that I didn’t finish one thing on 2011’s list, so I’m going to keep it simple this year.
One of last years projects has been moved to 2012. CrabApple Hill’s pattern, Nesting Time. I’m determined on this one!
I want to make a Kaffe quilt. I’m thinking a scrappy Carpenters Star would be fun.
And last, get a jump start on all those handmade Christmas gifts this year. I’ve already got some ideas!
My work list is much, much longer!
Did you make your list yet? We would love to know what you’ve got planned for 2012.
I know, I’m 2 days late with that one, but it seems to have taken me awhile to get back on track. I’ve been a little lazy…Great way to start off the new year, right?
I know I’ve said this before, but the Holidays just flew by! We took a trip back home to OKC, spent some time with family and had a lot of fun. Santa was good to me this year, so I thought I’d use today’s post to share what I call the Christmas Loot. I received a couple of gift cards to two of my favorite OKC quilt stores, Savage Quilter & Oklahoma QuiltWorks.
Oklahoma QuiltWorks is my fave.
They are a nice size store with a great mix of styles focusing on the modern side. Lots of samples, a kaffe wall, Cosmo threads..yea!! I signed up for their newsletter and received a 20% coupon for my birthday off my total purchase. I kinda went overboard in there. Oh well!
Kitchen prints from Maude Asbury. I’m thinking edging for tea towels with some embroidered fruits and veggies for these.
I Couldn’t pass this Maude Asbury up called Calypso. These fabrics from Blend are sooo nice!
Patterns and novelty prints and of course I got every Cosmo floss they had.
I always find the latest Amy Butler there and a new print from Valori Wells.
And lastly, these prints that I’m absolutely kicking myself for not buying more of called Echo.
Check out this kit they had for Kaffe houses. I love This! I didn’t buy the kit but I think I may have to add houses to my list this year.
Savage Quilter is newer quilt store to the area. A very nice staff. The owner is always friendly and ready to help. Even when we decided to show up 30 minutes before closing. If you’ve ever worked retail, you know that’s annoying:)
I found lots of goodies and inspiration here.
I thought this would make a pretty cute messenger bag or pillow.
And a pile of random goodness, including a Pezzy Print layer cake!
Now all I have to do is find the time to sew!
We hope everyone had a great Christmas!

One last handmade Friday before Christmas. It flew by so fast. I can’t believe we’re only a few short days away. There may not be time to make these super cute and quick placemats, but you can add them to your list for next year. Or why wait for Christmas. These would be great for any occasion you need a quick gifty. I whipped these up pretty fast and all made from mostly scraps. I even quilted them myself, which if you know me, usually involves some degree of whining. No whining or naughty words. I promise…easy peasy!
This free pattern comes from Elizabeth Hartman from the Oh Fransson! blog. You can find the pattern here.
I rolled them up, tied them with a pretty ribbon and gave them away with a casserole dish.
Here’s a set that my SewMod friend Andrea made up with some of the Bespoken fabrics. Check out her Funky Placemats Flickr page. She’s made several cool ones!
Very nice! Thanks for great idea Andrea. I will definitely be making more.
